I have known Dr. James Penfield since very shortly after his arrival in Alaska. He has performed his magic on both my wife Norma through dental implants and myself with dental reconstruction and regular dental maintenance and hygiene. In my opinion to call this gentleman simply a "Dentist" is an aberration and an injustice. He is far and above, better than that.

Dr. Penfield was born with a very unique gift through the use of his mind and his hands. His work is the finest that anyone couled ever hope to locate in any state, in any city and under any conditions. I have been in the dental field for the past 35 years, most of my experience in dentistry has been in General Dentistry with lots of emphasis in Oral Surgery.

As patients, I have learned over these years that anyone in the dental field makes for the most part horrible patients and we dont loose teeth and if we do we normaly put up a fight going to the extremes to try and save our teeth.

After having a three unit fixed bridge for 35 years the most unwanted words came up at a routine examination with Dr. Penfield and it was time to remove a key tooth that was holding this bridge in place. The decision was basically allready made and Dr. Penfield proceeded to extract the tooth. I want to say that I was so nerveous at that moment expecting pain and never felt a thing.

He explained then he would be using a material in that socket to preserve the bone and allow him to place a couple of dental implants in that area as soon as healing was complete.

A few months later he surgically placed two implants in the area followed by placing individual abutments and crowns that finished the restoration of that side of my mouth.

For as bad a patient as I am he was very sensitive to my feelings, he was very caring, very gentle and show great expertise in the work he was doing for me. I cannot say enough about this wonderfull dentist as a professional and as a caring individual as well as his highly trained dental assistants.
