Implant guide

How do dental implants work?

1 min read · Patient guide

A dental implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a titanium post that fuses with your jawbone. A crown, bridge, or denture then attaches on top. Here’s the process, timeline, and what makes them different.

01

The steps

  • Consultation and 3D imaging to plan the exact position
  • Implant placement — a minor surgical visit, with sedation available
  • Healing (osseointegration) — the bone bonds to the implant over 3–6 months
  • Abutment and final crown, bridge, or denture attachment
02

Why implants

They preserve jawbone, don’t rely on neighboring teeth, feel and function like natural teeth, and with good care can last decades.

03

Cost and financing

Cost depends on the number of implants, whether bone grafting is needed, and the restoration type. We provide a written estimate and offer Cherry financing.

Helpful questions

Clear answers before you reach out.

How long does the whole process take?+

Plan on several months. After the implant is placed, the bone bonds to it over three to six months before the final crown, bridge, or denture goes on.

Is placing an implant surgery?+

It’s a minor surgical visit. Sedation is available if you’d rather not be fully alert, from complimentary nitrous oxide to oral or IV sedation.

How long do implants last?+

With good care they can last decades. Because the implant replaces the tooth root, it also preserves jawbone and doesn’t rely on the teeth on either side.

The next step

Start with a consultation and a 3D scan.

We plan the exact position before anything begins, and you’ll have a written estimate for the whole course of treatment.
