Children

Little smiles. Big beginnings.

A first dental conversation can start with getting comfortable, asking questions, and learning what care may be appropriate. Call our team to confirm the ages we currently see and the right setting for your child’s needs.

A child’s first visit

Start with feeling comfortable.

An educational look at the conversation, not a fixed appointment plan.

01Getting comfortable

Talk about the office, the people, and any concerns. Share what helps your child feel at ease.

02Meeting the dentist

Discuss your child’s needs and ask what an age-appropriate visit may involve. The team will explain the next steps.

03Learning together

Ask for guidance on brushing, cleaning between teeth, and everyday habits that fit your child’s age and needs.

04Planning ahead

Review any recommended care or follow-up with the team. Visit timing and any referrals depend on individual needs.

Please call to confirm age eligibility and available care before arranging a child’s visit.

Teens

Growing smiles. Growing confidence.

Changing routines bring new questions. Talk with our team about preventive care, brushing and cleaning between teeth, and any concerns about a teen’s smile. We’ll help clarify available care and whether a specialist assessment may be appropriate.

Adults

Care that fits your life.

Start with what matters to you: keeping up with preventive care, understanding a damaged tooth, or exploring changes to your smile. Your dental evaluation helps shape a plan around your oral health and priorities.

A little planning goes a long way

Planning visits for more than one person?

Let’s start with a call. Ask our office about coordinating visits, the care each person may need, and times that could work for your family.

Call about family visits

Availability and eligibility are confirmed by the office. Exploring this page does not book an appointment.

Three useful questions for your call
  1. Can you see family members of these ages?
  2. Can our visits be coordinated, and how much time should we allow?
  3. What paperwork or records should we prepare?

Come as you are

What would help your family feel ready?

It’s our first visit

Start with the new-patient guide, review your paperwork, and check the location before you leave. Call to ask what to bring and how much time to allow for your appointment.

Someone feels nervous

Tell the team what feels difficult and what has helped before. Ask how the visit can be explained, how to signal a pause, and which comfort options may be appropriate. Options depend on the person and the care being considered.

We have a busy schedule

Call with the days and times that tend to work for your family. Ask whether appointments can be coordinated, how long each visit may take, and which arrangements are currently available. The office must confirm each appointment.

We’re returning to care

You can begin with a conversation, even if you are unsure what you need. Ask what a first assessment may involve, how to request previous records, and how the team will explain possible next steps.

Family dentistry FAQs

Common questions, answered.

A question of your own? Call us
At what age does Legacy begin seeing children?

Please call (907) 622-7874 to confirm Legacy’s current minimum age and whether new pediatric appointments are available. The age-based education on this page does not establish eligibility for care at the practice.

Can our whole family visit the same dental office?

Legacy offers general and family dentistry in Eagle River. Call to discuss the ages and types of visits you have in mind. The team can confirm who can be seen, the services available, and whether a referral may be appropriate for an individual’s needs.

What happens during a child’s first appointment?

An introductory dental visit may include getting familiar with the setting, an examination of the teeth and mouth, and guidance for home care. The approach depends on the child’s age, comfort, and oral health. Ask Legacy what is appropriate and available before arranging the visit.

How often should family members have checkups?

There is no single schedule for every family member. A dentist recommends follow-up based on each person’s oral health, history, and risk factors. Ask what interval is recommended for you and when to call sooner if something changes.

What if my child is nervous?

Let the office know before the visit. Explain any concerns and ask how the team can prepare, explain the visit, and discuss suitable comfort options. The plan should be based on the child’s needs; a pain-free or anxiety-free visit cannot be guaranteed.

Do you offer dental care for teens?

Call to confirm the care currently available for your teen and any age requirements. You can ask about routine visits, home-care guidance, sports-related concerns, or an orthodontic evaluation. A conversation or examination is needed to determine the appropriate next step; this page does not establish treatment eligibility.

Can you help with older adults’ dental needs?

Legacy’s general and restorative care includes dental cleanings, fillings, crowns and bridges, and dentures. An individual assessment helps determine appropriate care. Tell the team about practical concerns such as cleaning access, existing restorations, or changes in your mouth.

Can family appointments be coordinated?

Call the office to ask about coordinating visits for more than one family member. Availability, appointment length, and provider requirements vary. Simultaneous or back-to-back visits are not guaranteed, and each appointment must be confirmed by the office.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Call with your exact plan name to ask about benefits, network status, and estimated costs. Accepting an insurance plan is not the same as being in-network, and coverage depends on your plan. The Insurance & Financing page explains what to discuss with the team.

How do we request our first visit?

Call (907) 622-7874 to discuss your family’s needs and confirm availability. The Request a Visit page also explains the current contact options. For children or coordinated family visits, call first so the office can confirm eligibility and arrangements. No appointment is confirmed by exploring this page.
