Levels of Sedation Offered

While some procedures require high levels of sedation in general because of their severity, we are happy to provide sedation to any client who might need it because of anxiety or phobias. Here are the most common forms of sedation we use in our office.
Inhaled Sedation
  • Commonly referred to as laughing gas, nitrous oxide can create a calming effect that helps most clients relax instantly. It is a gentle sedation and the only kind that will allow many patients to drive themselves home afterwards, as it wears off relatively quickly after the procedure.
 Oral Sedation
  • There are a variety of pills that can help people be drowsy and less apprehensive about a procedure. These can sometimes cause you to fall asleep depending on the dose, but quite often you will be very calm but awake.
IV Sedation
  • With IV sedation, not only will it work quickly, but our dentists will be able to constantly adjust dosing on the fly as needed.
Anesthesia
  • This form of deep sedation will make you unconscious and unable to wake without the medicine wearing off or another medicine being used to wake you. This is for the most fearful people or in-depth procedures.
